Emergency Shelter (LEOS)

This is what the Homeless long for: respect, freedom from hunger, shelter from the elements, safety, the companionship of the like-minded. They want to live without fear. The want to enjoy the probity of the open air without the risk of bodily harm. They want to be warm. They want the comfort of a clean bed when they are ill, relief from pain, a hand offered in friendship. Ordinary conversation. Simple needs

LEOS - Lenoir Emergency Outreach Shelter

Yokefellow operates the Lenoir Emergency Outreach Shelter, known as LEOS, in partnership with the City of Lenoir. The shelter is located at 1129 West Avenue in downtown and operates year-round, 24/7.

This full-service permanent emergency shelter serves those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and is open to men, women and children, thus keeping families under one roof while offering dignity, respect and accountability.

LEOS has shower facilities, a laundry room, kitchen and dining area. There are designated sleeping quarters for men, women and families, as well as common living spaces.

All residents at LEOS receive weekly case management services to help them transition from homelessness to sustainable, independent living.

Residents are responsible for most daily chores and housekeeping at the shelter.

LEOS always welcomes volunteers from the community.

In 2021, Yokefellow added two additional emergency shelter services: (1) an emergency shelter for those not vaccinated for Covid, and (2) Safe Site parking.

The LEOS administrator can be reached at 828-726-3634.
